My tr5actor has been running like crap lately, and after checking everything else, I pulled the dist cap, at which time the rotor fell out in three different peices. It was barley running before this happened. I bought a new rotor and tried to crank it up and it acted as if it go tno spark.It is the forward most spark plug closest to the radiator. Next check the distributor rotor button, it should be aligned to fire #1 spark plug. That should be the plug wire to #1 spark plug. Now conect the remaining plugs to fire in the order 1-2-4-3. Turn on the fuel valve feeding the carburetor and check for leaks, tighten as necessary. Put the engine throttle at idle and start the tractor. This may require more than one set of hands: adjust the idle mixture screw out until the idle starts to stumble, then turn the idle mixture screw in 1/2 turn. Then check and see where the rotor is pointing, it should be pointing at #1 plugwire on your distributor cap.HTH.This assumes that the No. 1 plug wire is in the distributor cap socket in line with the right front cylinder head bolt. I posted on here a few months back about being a new tractor owner and replacing disy parts. Rebuilding starter and never checked to see which way disy turned. Can't crank the motor to tell as starter is now dead. After I rebuilt everything , I double checked the firing order and only got a loud backfire before old starter quit.
